Printmaker
I find inspiration in any shadow, play of light, happening or view. I have always felt connected to memories and experiences, those images that surface when least expected. Linoleum cuts as a print medium give me option for colour, mark-making, overlay and emboss. I have always drawn and kept sketchbooks and I use this work to develop into print . Ideas from trips and experiences give me the opportunity to develop layers and experiment with composition and found textures .
A long term advocate and course tutor to the Foundation year at Art School I have endeavored to keep that energy and experiment alive in my work as well as my teaching .
“Relief printing brings us close to the character of actual materials with the interaction between tools and substances of many kinds and with the use of processes that carry with them the resonance of casual reality “
Michael Rothenstein
“Any texture or flattish relief gives the possibility of making impressions through pressure like ancient x rays.”
